(29 September 2025) Sgrinhouse has received an award for ‘Best Newcomer Fabric Design’ from Homes & Gardens magazine. Talented, 28 year old Alice Smith heads up Sgrinhouse at her own design studio in Dale, Pembrokeshire where she hand designed and hand printed ‘Flags’ – winner of the prestigious award.
Homes & Gardens magazine said: “Sgrinhouse – Flags has been selected as the winner in Best Newcomer Fabric Design. Each entry was carefully reviewed by the Homes & Gardens team alongside an esteemed panel of industry judges, and Sgrinhouse’s work stood out as a true example of outstanding design in 2025.”
This well-deserved recognition comes during Sgrinhouse’s first design exhibition, ‘Focus/25 On Design’ at Design Centre (www.dcch.co.uk) in Chelsea until 16 Oct 2025.
Alice Smith, creative director at Sgrinhouse, commented on her achievement: “I am honoured to receive the Homes & Gardens ‘Best Newcomer in Fabric Design’ Award alongside exhibiting at Focus/25: The Longer View. To be recognised by one of the world’s leading interior magazines is a beyond exciting milestone for Sgrinhouse. So many people have discovered Sgrinhouse during the exhibition – from interior designers to journalists – and they have fallen for my playful presentation which reflects my love for the art world translated through my fabrics.
