The Nomads started the New Year win over high-flying Tenby at home on Saturday. With the prospect of gale force conditions not materialising, the home side started with a vengeance – possibly to prove that the Christmas break together with over-indulgence wouldn’t impact on their performance! However play settled and both sides enjoyed some positive forays into their opponents half. On the 20 minute mark the Nomads succeeded in getting three or four players in to the Tenby box and a couple of shots and ricochets found the ball at the feet of Leigh Power who rifled into the visitor’s net. There followed some 3 or 4 clear cut chances for the Nomads but none of these opportunities was converted and the score remained 1-0 at the interval.
It appeared that Tenby were going to throw everything they had at Neyland in the 2nd half but they failed to find the target. Mid way through the half and a nest move by the Nomads led to Gary Power striking the ball home to give the homesters some breathing space. And then with 12 minutes to go Wayne Vaughan-Parry took his chance well to secure maximum points with a 3-0 victory. Next week the 1st X1 is home to Angle, KO 2.30pm.

Meanwhile the 2nd X1 had a disappointing 2-1 defeat across the bridge at Pennar Robins. This came after a good home win last week against Prendergast Villa when the probable highlight of the afternoon was a goal from Jarred Campbell – he enjoyed that rare occasion!!!
