The Nomads 1st X1 entertained Saundersfoot Sports on Saturday. Having beaten the seasiders away in the league and at home in the Senior Cup, there was a danger that the homesters might have an over-optimistic view of the game. With two regulars on a jaunt to Cardiff to watch the rugby it was essential that each player played to their full potential.
Things didn’t get off to a good start as a defensive error allowed the visiting striker a shot on goal which evaded the efforts of Patrick Hannon. Having taken some measure of ‘lesson learned’ from this disaster, Neyland set about restoring some form of normality. Within five minutes they were level with a well taken goal from Leigh Power. And it wasn’t long for the sideline crowd to wait for the second when Joe Charlton made a run through the middle and fired the Nomads in to the lead. Gary Power emulated the effort of his brother and fired Neyland into a 3-1 lead at the interval.
The second period saw the homesters record 4 more goals through Leigh Power, Joe Charlton, Nathan Warlow and Sam Laugharne although they had to concede two further goal soothe visitors. Final score in the Nomads favour: 7-3
