20150912_161804On Saturday 12th September the Nomads entertained Angle in the First Division of the Pembrokeshire League. The visitors had made ‘more than a reasonable start’ to the season whilst the home side were restricted to a basic squad of 12! A change in formation for the homesters didn’t provide the start which was needed. In fact within 7 minutes they found themselves 2-0 down. Although edging the level of possession Neyland had to wait until 10 minutes before the break before the deficit could be reduced. A free kick from the edge of the area gave Justin ‘Skinny’ Harding the opportunity to strike home to make it 2-1 at half time. However there was another setback prior to the whistle when defender Andrew Kemp sustained a nasty ankle injury and was forced to leave the field – so the Nomads would face the prospect of a second half without a substitute.
And there was another lengthy wait during the second period before the scores were level. A determined run down the flank by Aaron James resulted in a well-directed cross for Mikey Chandler to latch on to and bring the sides level. And with just 5 minutes remaining another cross-field ball was ‘scooped’ clear by the visiting keeper only to fall into the path of striker Justin Harding who coolly and accurately despatched the ball into the net to give the Nomads a 3-2 victory and a much needed 3 points.
Next week the 1st X1 is home to Merlins Bridge K.O. 2.30pm and will welcome support from former player John Jones who will be home from London for the weekend to celebrate his brother Scott’s 18th birthday!
Team: Patrick Hannon, Nick Koomen, Paul Hannon, Andrew Kemp, Scott Jones, Nathan Warlow, Gary Power, Wayne Vaughan-Parry, Sean Hannon (Capt.), Justin Harding , Mikey Chandler, Aaron James.
Pictured below are goal scorers Mikey Chandler (left) and Justin Harding.

Meanwhile the 2nd X1 was away at Milford Athletic and came away with a 2-1 victory with goals from Phil Bevan and Sam Laugharne. So Even at this early stage of the season this represents the ‘double’ over the Athletic.20150912_161804
