Neyland Football News

The Nomads moved up to second in the First Division with a 3-1 victory at the Athletic Ground. Pennar had been in 2nd position until a couple of weeks ago so clearly the home side knew it had a tough encounter.
All the goals came in the first period. Wayne Vaughan-Parry opened the scoring in the fifteenth minute with Sean Hannon following up with the second after a further lapse of just 5 minutes. And it was Parry once again who stretched the homesters advantage to three with 30 minutes on the clock.

It was in the last minute of first half play that Neyland conceded a penalty which was comfortably converted to make the half time and full time score 3-1. In the second period the balance of play was fairly even. The Nomads could have increased their margin when Parry was involved in two incidents – firstly being pushed in the back in the penalty area but no penalty was awarded; and then when he fired home a fine strike only to be adjudged to be offside.

Pictured below are goal scorers Wayne Vaughan-Parry and skipper Sean Hannon. Next week the Nomads will have a stern test away to Merlin’s Bridge – the team which they have replaced in second position.

Team: Patrick Hannon, Scott Jones, Nicky Koomen, Paul Hannon, Andrew Kemp, Nathan Warlow, Gary Power, Henry Durrant, Mikey Chandler, Wayne Vaughan-Parry, Sean Hannon, Jeremy Evans, Andrew Davies, Sam Laugharne.

The seconds game at St. Clears was postponed due to the adverse weather conditions in Carmarthenshire.
