Neyland travelled to high flying Merlin’s Bridge on the 14th February knowing that a win would see them swap places with the Bridge and move back in to second place. There was a minute’s silence before the game in memory of Kelvin Townsend who captained the team during the 70’s.
The entire game was played at speed with equal attacks I the opponent’s half and equally effective defending. Both sides spurned a couple of chances each during the two periods. Not a lot else can be said about the game except the action of the last minute – and each minute counts! The ball was crossed and fell into open space in the Merlin’s Bridge penalty area. It was Nathan Warlow who was closest at hand to side foot the ball in to an empty Bridge net. This result means that – after a good 2 – 2 draw away at St. Clears last week with Mikey Chandler scoring both – the Nomads remain unbeaten in 2015! Next week they are away to Narberth..
Team: Patrick Hannon, Andrew Kemp, Nicky Koomen, Scott Jones, Mikey Chandler, Gary Power, Henry Durrant, Nathan Warlow, Sean Hannon, Paul Hannon, Wayne Vaughan-Parry, Aaran McQillan
The 2nd X1 had an excellent 4-0 win at home against top-of-the-table Herbrandston with goals from Phil Bevan, Andrew Smith (2), Andrew Davies. Next week they are at home to Pembroke Borough.
