Attendance figures for last term remained high even though we had some glorious summer evenings when we were competing with other activities within the town and the ever popular jumping off the pontoon! This year the admittance of new Year 6 members was staggered, they were not allowed in until they had reached their 11th birthday and I think this was one of the reasons our attendance remained high. We also have a great outside area where members can sit and relax on picnic benches purchased with the Neyland Town Council Development Grant , or take part in sports activities. A group of young people and their tutor from Milford Haven Youth Matters based in Milford Haven Youth Club very kindly came along and assembled the benches for us.
Sessions this term included ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, where members had to eat bugs, put their hands in slime, identify revolting looking foodstuffs etc in order to win vouchers to spend in the Tuck Shop. We held a tea party for the Queen’s 90th birthday, an American Thanksgiving themed night with food, quiz and games, held a Treasure Hunt, ran a sweepstake for the Euro 2016 Football championship and glass painting.
We received money from the Mayor’s Fund which has enabled us to buy some new sports equipment for use inside and outside the club. Cllr Mrs Margaret Brace made a visit to our Youth Forum meeting where she presented us with a cheque for £400, this was from fund raising events held during her term of office.
