Neyland Town Council Helps Locals Get Their Sea Legs

Neyland Town Council recently awarded funding to the Welsh Sailing Venture, a registered charity which enables disabled and able-bodied people to experience sailing on the Haven waterway. Their vessel, a catamaran, ‘Sea Legs’ is based at Neyland Marina and is run by volunteers who provide trips for groups up to six There is also a scheme ‘RYA Sailability’ whereby people can work towards a certificate of competence. The town council funding will allow for some additional days afloat and opportunities can be extended to Neyland Community School, Neyland House and other organizations. The Mayor of Neyland, Dr Simon Hancock, said ‘We are delighted to make funding available to allow more people to experience trips on the Welsh Sailing Venture catamaran. We have a wonderful resource, the Haven and allowing more people to enjoy it under skilled supervision will enhance the well-being of those go out on the river.’
