Neyland Ladies Choir – AGM

A good start to the new term with the election of new officers at the AGM,  and rehearsals are in full swing in readiness for the choir’s first concert this Friday, 27th September at Millin Chapel, The Rhos commencing 7.30pm.
During the AGM, outgoing  Chairlady,  Sandra Western, presented the Waterford Crystal bowl to the incoming Chairlady,  Jayne Edwards. The bowl is a one-off piece made for the choir during the ladies’ first tour to Ireland in 1997 and is passed to the Chairlady when she enters office.

The other elected officers are: Secretary,  Alison Davies, and Treasurer, Jean Diggle.

Anyone interested in knowing more about belonging to a choir, why not come along to rehearsals at Bethesda Baptist Schoolroom any Wednesday during term time at 7pm? A warm welcome awaits!!

The choir travelled to Millin Chapel last Friday evening and was given a very warm welcome by minister Martyn Evans and the chapel members. Under the direction of Musical Director,  Lynne Kelleher and accompanied by Miranda Davies,  the choir performed a varied programme of anthems, Welsh hymns, a WW1 medley with audience participation,  Africa , Sway, and  a few old favourites which went down well with everyone. Alison Davies performed two solos, and poems were read by Yvonne and Noreen, which made for a light-hearted evening’s entertainment.
Afterwards, the ladies were rewarded with refreshments at Rhos Village Hall prepared by the Chapel ladies.
The next concert will be on 11th October at St. Mary’s Church, Hakin, where the proceeds for the evening will go to RNLI. Tickets,  priced at £5, will be available from any choir member or pay at the door. The concert is a 90th birthday celebration for chorister Dorothy Beckett and her many years of support to the choir and, in particular, for the RNLI charity.
