On 23rd February a few of the ladies went to Portfield School to have an informal concert to help the school celebrate St David’s day. Yvonne Byrant and Peter Griffiths put together a fun programme so that everyone could participate, which went down well with both the pupils and the choir ladies. Action songs such as ‘My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean’, ‘Swing Low’, ‘He’s got the Whole World in his hands’ had the audience and choir competing to see who would do the best job and there was a great deal of laughter when some of the ladies’ co-ordination left much to be desired. With a few well known Welsh hymns and the National Anthem, the afternoon was a huge success and the choir left the school with a promise to be back next year.
The next engagement will be on March 12th at Bethesda Baptist Chapel when the choir will give a concert to raise funds for the British Red Cross. There will be a varied programme to suit everyone and, with guest soloists, I’m sure the evening will be very enjoyable.
